Branch 1: Poetry Reading at the GoldMine

Poetry Night At the GoldMine

Thursdays at the GoldMine they have been running a poetry series called 17 Poets.  A dark smokey bar, one of the few "hip hop" clubs during the weekend.  However, Thursdays it is poetry night.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kelly Andrea began with something like a spoken word piece, "Back." It repeats the title over and over.  She has a hip hop beat, partially.  Following pieces:

"Name's Nigger"
"Oil On Us"
       - a lot similar to "Back"  repeating the title: Oil on us Oil on us Oil on us Oil on us.
"Five Years Later"
"Katrina Poetry"
-i liked this one.  Katrina the storm as a character.  A she, a her of course.  If I have known anything about this city is was that she was a women.
 "Michale's Second Line"
       -glitter glove wannabes

Andrea Bole
She is a writer of multiple genres.  It bothers me when readers at a poetry reading introduce themselves as not having written poetry in a long time and that she would be reading only old pieces.

Poems:
" The Cow"
"My Filthy God"
     -Gilgamesh Poem
"Fire and Orgasms are Worth It"
Short Story Readings:
"Persephone"
-a great story about the daughter of Persephone.
